Teula

Teula - The roof on the table

Teula was born with the design intent of bringing into the heart of the domestic space a product that can tell the story of Italian beauty and the excellence of craftsmanship without neglecting today's prerogatives with a view to sustainability and enhancement of the territory. Its design is inspired by the Florentine coppo, an iconic element that has characterised Italian roofs for centuries. The Florentine roof tile, made of brick, not only has a practical function, but has acquired a symbolic value over time, becoming an emblem of Italian culture and history.
Teula takes its archetypal form, reinterpreting it in a modern key and creating an evocative dialogue between past and present. Its realisation follows the path of Italian savoir-faire, and takes place in two distinct phases, each one an expression of craftsmanship excellence. The first phase takes place in Florentine ceramics, where the tile is made and fired according to historical techniques. In the second phase, Teula is transferred to workshops in Vietri, where skilled craftsmen decorate it by hand using pictorial techniques that distinguish Vietri ceramics.
Teula is not just a decorative object, but a true design element that brings the beauty of the Italian landscape and the excellence of Italian craftsmanship, custodians of a precious knowledge within the home, rich in history and tradition.
Teula is part of the collection of the Italian Cultural Institute and has participated in various international exhibitions such as Melbourne, Beirut and Warsaw.
